What is an Endoscope?
An endoscope a medical examination instrument with a light source and a miniature high-definition camera at its tip, shaped elongated for medical use. Endoscopy, on the other hand, refers to the high-precision examination of organs within the body using an endoscope. The most common endoscopic examinations include gastroscopy and colonoscopy, which respectively examine the upper digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, duodenum) and the colon.
During the examination, the condition of the digestive tract is transmitted to a viewing screen through the endoscope’s imaging camera, enabling the doctor to closely examine the interior of the digestive tract. If suspicious areas are identified, the doctor can also extract tissue from corresponding location for further analysis, allowing for the diagnosis of digestive tract diseases.
