Instructions for Ultrasound Examination
Prior to undergoing an ultrasound examination, please take note of the following:
Before the Examination
- Please bring a valid referral letter and your original identification card. Mainland Chinese visitors should also present their travel permit or passport for registration. Our centre does not accept photocopies or photographs.
- If you require an appointment for ultrasound-guided fine needle or core needle tissue biopsy, please provide a valid referral letter before the examination date.
On the Examination Day
- Please arrive thirty minutes before your scheduled examination time to facilitate registration and preparation by our medical staff.
- For your comfort during the examination, please wear loose and comfortable clothing on the examination day.
- Prior to the examination, you will need to remove any jewelry and metallic items on your person, such as watches, rings, necklaces, earrings, hairpins, etc. Please ensure the safekeeping of your personal belongings.
Abdominal or Upper Abdominal Ultrasound Examination
- Please start fasting from both food and water 4 hours before the examination. However, if you need to take regular medication, you may consume a small amount of water.
- Avoid consuming dairy products, milk, milk tea, or coffee.
Bladder Ultrasound Examination (Including Abdominal/Pelvic/Prostate Ultrasound)
- Please follow the instructions of the medical staff and start drinking a large amount of water half an hour before the examination to fill the bladder (but refrain from urinating). This will ensure a more accurate and clear ultrasound scan.
